A longer "about me"!

Hi!

So I thought I would do this as a little "Hey, this is who I am" type thing.

Just for the record, I'm awful at blogging, and google+ completely confounds me but I've heard good things about blogger/blogspot...so here we are. Eventually I'm going to have to change the domain name but for right now I'm mostly just testing this out to see what happens! I'm going to make an effort to make a post at least once a week. My main goal in starting this thing is to write about my writing.

I have a tumblr I never use, so lets hope I keep up with this more. :P

And I over share. So. I hope I'll be entertaining as a blogger. I just kind of don't know when to stop talking. Sometimes I wonder if I should be a nonfiction writer!

If you're just finding this from FanFiction.Net then you probably know me as AnglcDmn1986. I'm pretty sure I just upset a lot of my readers with the announcement that I will no longer be posting my fan fiction on the website. It wasn't an easy decision. I've been a member on that site since 2001 and I've always thoroughly enjoyed writing about my favorite fandoms but I feel as though my time will be better spent on work that will push me into the direction of writing professionally. I am a HUGE fangirl though. To save face and try to be professional, and to not to embarrass myself, I mostly try not to squeal over Damon Salvatore in The Vampire Diaries too publicly.

...Still happens anyway. I love my TVD. But that is not what this blog is about.

That doesn't mean I don't plan to publish on Kindle Worlds, though. I'll talk about that at some other point/in another post (making a mental list of what I need to write about as I introduce myself, bahaha).

Anyway, as far as original work goes, I'm really excited about my Cheap and Over Series. I just published Head Over Hoof this month. Funnily enough both of my novels that are on sale right now started off as fan fiction in an AU/AH platform (alternate universe/all human for those who don't understand fan fic lingo). I COMPLETELY rewrote HOH though and I couldn't be more proud of it. I actually started the re-writing project during Camp NaNoWriMo and finished a month later (I'll definitely make a post about National Novel Writing Month at some point--it's an amazing, crazy challenge and I've been participating since 2007). I'll go more in depth about each series another day, I think.

So this isn't exactly a post meant to talk about my stories. I'll talk about it some other time but you could click on the Amazon link to find my novels if you're interested!

I'm a market research interviewer at home on top of being a writer (@home interviewing pays the bills for me right now). I live up in mountains in Kentucky with my mom. She was getting lonely, my brothers and I couldn't get her to move to Lexington, so I decided I would come back home. Let me tell you--I am not THAT fond of my hometown...sort of stinks that I can't walk to the mall--but it feels good to be home. My rabbits are happier because before I moved out of my apartment a year ago they were "illegal" apartment bunnies and I had to hide them every time maintenance needed to come in for something. I also got to get pet chickens when I came home (FREAKING LOVE CHICKENS). I love animals in general and through my college years didn't have many pets other than betas. I'm the type of girl that has to cuddle my pets-my pullets even get snuggled and they don't mind a bit-and fish are just...

They're pretty. I managed to keep goldfish alive for a year but felt too guilty after they bit it.

I have an instagram! You can see my rabbits and chickens and guinea pig and Mom's boxer on there. Same as my FF.Net SN, anglcdmn1986.

Hm... I feel like this is getting too long. Like I said, I'm not much of a blogger. I had a Xanga account when I was in college but haven't touched it in years and am a little embarrassed by it now (no amount of ribbing and teasing will get you the URL). I'm not really sure how long blog posts should be before I need to cut it off out so it doesn't get boring.

I'll figure it out or just end up writing long posts!

If you would like, and if you are one of my readers just discovering my blog, I have a new email address in which I will update you on what is going on with my original work. It's going to be a pretty public one so go ahead and shoot me a message if you'd like to be on it: mara_a_miller@hotmail.com Also, you can subscribe/get updates on when I make posts (I think I got that right...I'm so new to this it's crazy) on here.
